Informative meetings HIV/AIDS in Radovis and Strumica

Using the already established contacts, RROMA run two informative workshops yesterday as part of the MTV SAF project. Our informative meetings were lead by Urmeta and Edvin. The meetings  were interesting and interactive, with a lot of fun, shared information and condoms :)

HIV awareness is important, not only to protect yourself, but also those around yourself. As, we all know AIDS doesn't know about discrimination!

Informative HIV/AIDS meeting in Kicevo

The 25-th of April was very informative day for the youngsters of the high school "Mirko Mileski" in Kicevo. Sejhan Memedov and Gonul Aliova were the youngsters that organized the sixth informative meeting about HIV/AIDS awareness. The youngsters talked in front of a mixed group of over 30 students, presenting proper condom usage, HIV/AIDS protection and sharing information about different STD's.

Informative HIV/AIDS meeting in Bitola

On the 18-th of April, two youngsters from the Regional Roma Educational Youth Association organized and run the fifth informative meeting about HIV/AIDS protection. The meeting was held in the high school "Taki Daskalo" in Bitola. Over 30 youngsters attended the meeting, listening to Juse Rustemov's and Gul Aliova's presentation and advises.

Informative HIV/AIDS meeting in Prilep

On the 11-th of April in the High school “Gorce Petrov” in Prilep, the youth held the fourth informative meeting. This meeting was lead by Selina Mustafova and Emina Saliova, who did an excellent job. Selina and Emina informed the youngsters how to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and STD’s and how to use a condom properly. Over 20 young people attended the meeting for 45 min.

Informative HIV/AIDS meeting in Gevgelija

On the 21-st of February in the High school “Josif Josifovski” in Gevgelija, the youth held the third informative meeting. This meeting was lead by Melita Destanovska and Makfira Demirovska, who stepped in as replacement for one of the trainers. Melita and Makfira informed the youngsters how to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and STD’s and how to use a condom properly. Over 30 young people attended the meeting.

Informative HIV/AIDS meeting in Kavadarci

The second informative meeting about HIV/AIDS was organized in Kavadarci on the 28-th of January with the students from the High school “Dobri Daskalov”. Like in the previous meetings our youth had a lot of help from the director from the High school, they inform the students to attend our informative meeting. There was around 34 students who got inform how to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and STD’s and how to use a condom properly. There was a good interaction and during the meeting, the facilitators (Nalan Memedova and Makfira Demirovska) delivered info materials to the youngsters.

Informative HIV/AIDS meeting in Negotino

On the 26-th of December in the High school “Cyril and Methodius” in Negotino, the youth of RROMA held the first informative meeting in the frame of our HIV/AIDS awareness campaign. Our facilitators, Elena Stojcevska and Seven Ashmedov were greeted by the Director of the school, who helped them in organizing the youth to attend the meeting. It was an interesting and interactive meeting, with a lot of shared information and condoms.

Од Јуни 2012, РРОМА продолжи со кампањата „Сидата не знае да дискриминира ... Заштити се!“ во новите општини Прилеп, Битола, Кавадарци, Неготино, Гевгелија, Кичево и Струга. Младите членови на РРОМА истражуваа во средните училишта на овие општини, односно ги анкетираа своите врсници во областа на заштита од ХИВ/Сида и ППИ.

Informative HIV/AIDS meeting in Radovis

On the 23-th of May in the High school “Kosta Susinov” in Radovis was held sixth informative meeting in the frame of our HIV/AIDS awareness campaign. Our facilitators, Anife Sakirova and Sendil Aliovski were greeted by the Psychologist of the school, who helped them in organizing the youth to attend the meeting. It was an interesting and interactive meeting, with a lot of shared information and condoms.

Informative HIV/AIDS meeting in Strumica

The fifth informative meeting about HIV/AIDS was organize in Strumica on the 23-th of May with the students from the High school “Jane Sandanski”. Like in the others meetings our youth had a lot of help from the director from the High school, they inform the students to attend our informative meeting. There was around 25 students who got inform how to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and STD’s and how to use a condom properly. There was a good interaction and during the meeting facilitators (Fetija Demirovska and Redifa Edipova) delivered info materials to the youngsters.

Informative HIV/AIDS meeting in Stip

On the 22-th of May in the High school “Dimitar Mirsaciev” in Stip the fourth informative meeting was held with the youngsters. This meeting was lead by Edvin Saliov and Vanesa Abdulova. For this meeting our youth had help from the vice-director of the school to organize the students. Edvin and Vanesa inform the youngsters how to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and STD’s and how to use a condom properly. It was interesting when in the middle of the workshop vice-director showed-up in the class room and informs us that there is a group of students who weren’t invited for this meeting, they skipped class to hear more about this topic. During the meeting, info materials and condoms were delivered to the youngsters.

Informative HIV/AIDS meeting in Sv. Nikole

The third informative meeting regarding HIV/AIDS prevention was held on the 15-th of May in the facilities of the High school “Koco Racin” in Sv. Nikole. The Director of the school greeted our facilitators and brought them in the class-room were the students had a biology class and the topic of that class was about STD’s. The RROMA youngsters Anife Sakirova and Emran Saidov had a really hard task, because the students had learnt about HIV/AIDS in previous class and they wanted to show to our facilitators that they have knowledge about that, but our facilitators made it easier for the teacher, by explaining to the students how to protect themselves from the STD’s. Anife and Emran delivered info materials about HIV/AIDS and condoms to the youngsters.

Informative HIV/AIDS meeting in Delcevo

On the 10-th of May in the High school Metodi Mitevski – Brico in Delcevo, RROMA held the second informative meeting in the frame of our HIV/AIDS awareness campaign. Urmeta Arifovska and Igbal Aliova were facilitators of this meeting and they had a lot of help from the psychologist from the school that helped them to inform and organize the students. It was interesting that all of the students were girls and maybe that was one of the reasons to have a very open, positive and interactive discussion. The girls got the chance to get informed about HIV/AIDS and the STD’s, but also to learn about proper condom usage. They had a lot of questions to our facilitators and they gave them proper answers. Urmeta and Igbal delivered info materials about the AIDS/HIV and condoms to the girls. At the end, some of the students showed interest in how they can get involved in our activities.

Roma youth continuing leading the fight against HIV/AIDS

On the 1-st of June 2010, the MTV Staying Alive Foundation officially announced that the Regional Roma Educational Youth Association (RROMA) from Kratovo, Macedonia will receive a grant for implementing an awareness campaign on HIV/AIDS and STI (sexual transmitted infections).

This July 2011, the MTV Staying Alive Foundation announced that SAF will continue supporting RROMA for three more years.

The awareness campaign will not only improve knowledge, but also promote positive values about the Roma community and promote them as agents of change and people that care about their health and the health of the others that live together with them in the society.

This year, RROMA will go into new communities such as Kriva Palanka, Sveti Nikole, Delcevo, Strumica, Radovis, Pehcevo and Stip. Starting from today, RROMA will continue conduct an awareness campaign based on creativity and using social media. There will be a lot of creative actions, videos, theater, role-playing, comic drawing, awareness workshops, data researches etc.

On the 1-st of December 2011, the youth of RROMA distributed flyers and condoms to create awareness about the World AIDS day in Probistip and Stip. More than 100 condoms were distributed among the people from these municipalities.

Last HIV/AIDS informative meeting in Veles!

After having spread information in the High schools and having meetings with the Roma and non-Roma students in Kratovo, Probistip, Vinica, Kocani and Berovo, RROMA organized the last meeting of this kind in Veles.

The last meeting was held in the High School "Dimitrija Cupovski"-Veles. Vanesa Jordanova had the honor to be our last trained facilitator and close the regional HIV/AIDS awareness meetings. On this meeting, the youth had the chance to learn about proper condom usage, what HIV is and what AIDS means, also to hear and learn about the different STD's. RROMA will post the evaluation of these meetings and impressions from the participants very soon. Enjoy the photos of our last meeting. First AIDS Informative meeting in Kratovo

On the 24-th of December around 30 youngsters from Kratovo, mainly from the High school had a chance to get informed about HIV/AIDS and STI's.

They got a chance to hear about the ways of HIV transmission, how to protect them selves and others around them. Some of them also had a chance to train about proper condom usage.

It was a very funny workshop, with a lot of interaction, but what was most important the youngsters got the information from their peers ... Exactly! The RROMA youth that was trained in Probistip leaded this meeting. Two of them were the facilitators and got help from the coordinator Merlin.

In the end, all of them understood the message ... to protect them selves always, but especially during the holidays, because AIDS don't discriminate or take a holiday!!!

СИДА-та не знае да дискриминира ... Заштитете се!

Локација: Општина Пробиштип, Ромска заедница, Средно училиште „Наум Наумовски - Борче“.

Целна група: Млади и Возрасни од РЗ (Ромската заедница) и ученици во средното училиште на возраст од 13 до 22 години.

Испитаници: 99, анкетирани со анкетен прашалник.

Просечна возраст: 18 години.

Полова струкутура на испитаниците: 42 женски (43%) и 57 машки (57%)

Период на истражување: Септември – Октомври 2010

Во првата област, 93% од испитаниците одговориле под а), а само 7 % одговориле под б) на првото прашање.

Додека на второто прашање, 5% одговориле под а), 6% одговориле под б) и 89% одговориле под в).

На третото прашање, дури 95% одговориле точно, додека 5% одговориле со неточно.

Во втората област, на првото прашање 5% одговориле со ДА, додека 95% одговориле со НЕ.

На второто прашање од оваа област, 75% одговориле со ДА, додека 25% одговориле со НЕ.

Во третата област, 61% од испитаниците дадоа делумно точни одговори за тоа како се пренесува ХИВ, додека 39% одговориле точно на прашањето.

На второто прашање од оваа област, 69% делумно одговориле на прашањето, додека точно одговориле 31%.

Во последната област, на првото прашање под а) одговориле 3% од испитаниците, под б) 3%, а под в) 94% .

На второто прашање, под а) одговориле 1% од испитаниците, само под б) 29% и под в) 1%. Скоро 98% од испитаниците го заокружиле кондомот заедно со некои од останатите предмети за заштита од ППИ, под г) немаше одговори од испитаниците.

Области на испитување:

Основни познавања на целната група за СИДА, ХИВ и ППИ:

1. СИДА-та е:

а) Вирус – одговориле 39 женски (93 %); 51 машки (89%)

б) Болест – одговориле 3 женски ( 7%); 6 машки (11%)

2. ХИВ е:

а) Исто што и СИДА – одговориле 2 женски (5%), 3 машки (5%)

б) Бактерија што предизвикува СИДА – одговориле 2 женски (5%), 4 машки (7%)

в) Вирус што предизвикува СИДА – одговориле 38 женски (90%), 50 машки (88%)

3. Полово преносливи инфекции (ППИ) се инфекции кои се пренесуваат по сексуален пат (орален, вагинален и анален), иако некои ППИ се пренесуваат и по крвен пат:

а) Точно – одговориле 56 машки (98%), 38 женски (90%)

б) Неточно – одговориле 1 машки (2%), 4 женски (10%)

Мислења на целната група за ХИВ-позитивните личности:

1. ХИВ-позитивна личност лесно може да биде препознаена од околината:

а) ДА – одговориле 3 машки (5%), 2 женски (5%)

б) НЕ – одговориле 54 машки (95%), 40 женски (95%)

2. ХИВ-позитивните личности треба да ги имаат истите права како и сите луѓе, да бидат целосно прифатени и интегрирани во општеството:

а) ДА – одговориле 43машки (75%), 31 женски (74%)

б) НЕ – одговориле 14машки (25%), 11 женски (26%)*

Основни познавања на целната група како се пренесува и како доаѓа до инфицирање со ХИВ:

ХИВ се пренесува преку:

*бидејќи беа понудени повеќе точни одговори, дел од испитаниците дадоа целосни одговори, дел делумни или нецелосни одговори

а) 27 испитанички или 64% дадоа делумно точни одговори на прашањето, притоа додавајќи дека ХИВ може да се пренесува преку пот, солзи и плунка.

б) 15 испитанички или 36% дадоа точни одговори наведувајќи дека ХИВ се пренесува преку крв, сперма, вагинален секрет и мајчино млеко.

в) 33 испитаници или 58% дадоа делумно точни одговори на прашањето, притоа додавајќи дека ХИВ може да се пренесува преку пот, солзи, плунка и вода.

г) 24 испитаници или 42% даде точен одговор наведувајќи дека ХИВ се пренесува преку крв, сперма, вагинален секрет и мајчино млеко.

2. Може да се инфицирате со ХИВ:

*бидејќи беа понудени повеќе точни одговори, дел од испитаниците дадоа целосни одговори, дел делумни или нецелосни одговори

а) 41 испитаници или 72% дадоа делумно точни одговори за тоа како може да се инфицираат со ХИВ, притоа наведувајќи дека можат да се инфицираат доколку не се вакцинираат против СИДА, не ги мијат рацете после користење на тоалет или се бакнуваат (во образ) со ХИВ-позитивна личност.

б) 16 испитаници или 23% дадоа точен одговор за тоа како можат да се инфицираат со ХИВ, наведувајќи дека може да дојде до инфекција доколку се има незаштитен сексуален однос со ХИВ инфицирана личност или се користат нестерилизирани (претходно користени) игли и шприцеви.

в) 27 испитанички или 64% дадоа делумно точни одговори за тоа како може да се инфицираат со ХИВ, притоа наведувајќи дека можат да се инфицираат доколку не се вакцинираат против СИДА, не ги мијат рацете после користење на тоалет или се бакнуваат (во образ) со ХИВ-позитивна личност.

г) 15 испитанички или 36% дадоа точен одговор за тоа како можат да се инфицираат со ХИВ, наведувајќи дека може да дојде до инфекција доколку се има незаштитен сексуален однос со ХИВ инфицирана личност или се користат нестерилизирани (претходно користени) игли и шприцеви.

Основни познавање на заштита на целната група

Како да дознаеш дали си ХИВ-позитивен, правејќи:

а) обична крвна слика – одговориле 0 машки (0%), 3 женски (7%)

б) рентгенска слика – одговориле 3 машки (5%), 0 женски (0%)

в) специфичен тест на крвта – одговориле 54 машки (95%), 39 женски (93%)

2. Кои од наведените средства штитат од ППИ:

а) таблети за контрацепција*- одговориле 1 машко (2%), 0 женски (0%)

б) кондом* – одговориле 18 машки (32%), 11 женски (26%)

в) дијафрагма* - одговориле 1 женскo (2%)

г) спирала* - одговориле 0 машки (0%), 0 женски (0%)

*останатите 66% или 38 машки заокружиле повеќе одговори заедно, од кои 1 машко заокружил кондом и таблети за контрацепција, 2 машки заокружиле кондом и спирала и 35 машки заокружиле кондом, дијафрагма и спирала заедно.

*останатите 72% или 30 женски заокружиле повеќе одговори заедно, од кои 28 кондом, дијафрагма и спирала заедно, 1 таблети за контрацепција и кондом и 1 кондом и спирала.
